Recent Major Recalls from SaferCar

Safercar.gov  recently announced many major recalls within the last month. Please see below for details:

Heartland Recreational vehicles, LLC has issued a recall for certain 2014 trailers manufactured between September 14, 2013, and January 17, 2014, and equipped with optional 17.5” wheels. The affected trailers had been printed with incorrect Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. Having these incorrect labels may cause owners to replace the tires with the wrong size or fill the tire with the wrong pressure which increases the risk of tire failure or crash. Heartland will notify owners and send them a free replacement label with the correct tire size.

Yamaha Motor Corporation USA is recalling certain model year 2009-2013 YZFR1 motorcycles manufactured October 2008 through August 2013 and 2012-2013 XTZ12 motorcycles manufactured October 2011 through August 2013. These motorcycles include a headlight that is overheating and causing the bulb to expand. Once the bulb expands it causes the socket to overheat and the headlight to malfunction. Yamaha will contact owners, and dealers will replace the socket free of charge.

Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2012 through 2014 Frontier vehicles manufactured from November 28, 2012, through December 17, 2013. The recall was placed due to an incorrectly installed circuit breaker. The mistake caused the main wire harness to be installed facing outward which has the potential of coming in contact with a metal bolt on the A-pillar. If this bolt wears through the wire harness covering it could potentially cause an electrical shortage and start a fire. Nissan will be in contact with owners, and dealers will inspect the circuit breaker orientation to replace the part if needed, free of charge.

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc has issued a recall for a certain model year 2013 Outlander Sport vehicles manufactured July 20, 2012, through May 29, 2013, and equipped with leather seats. In these vehicles, the driver-side seat-mounted airbag wiring may have been improperly routed in installation. With the wire routed incorrectly, using the seat adjustment may cause damage to the wire and subsequently turn on the airbag warning light. It also may cause the airbag to NOT deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Mitsubishi will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the wiring of the driver-side seat-mounted airbag and re-route the wire if necessary, free of charge. If the wire has been damaged, the airbag will be replaced, again free of charge.

It is important to respond to any recall you may receive from a car company or your dealership. Even the smallest things could have an impact on your safety and the way your car runs.

James was searching for equipment for painting at Home Depot. In the aisle next to him, there was a worker on a lift stocking the highest shelf. The worker pushed boxes so far across the shelf that they fell off the other edge and hit James in the head. The force almost knocked James unconscious. He sat down and the loud bang got the worker off the ladder to see what fell. When they saw James they offered him a bucket and made a report. James did not recall leaving the store or how he got home. He did not recall much except being at home depot and getting hit in the head. Home Depot told him that it was a small box of dust masks that hurt him. We discovered it was actually a large box of emergency kits that fell off the shelf.
